ABOUT THE ARTIST

Formed by the two brothers Leon and Levin in Cologne, the city that birthed the likes of Krautrock, SPARKLING’s debut LP “I Want To See Everything” — a jagged, quick-witted set of ten pop-flecked multilingual post-punk tunes co-produced by Andy Ramsay of Stereolab — soon broke them out of Germany and attracted widespread support across BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music in 2019. Their hot, heavy, and sweat-drenched live shows across Europe from the very beginning quickly left an influential mark on the band’s songwriting, leading them to incorporate English, German, and French into their lyrics. After being remixed by Digitalism and working with LCD Soundsystem’s Al Doyle and Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard on production duties for their 2022 EP “This Is My Life / Das Ist Mein Leben / C’est Ma Vie”, SPARKLING continued their remarkable progression. Their highly anticipated second album “We Are Here To Make You Feel”, released on Moshi Moshi Records (UK) in 2023, sees the band moving even closer to the center of the dancefloor. Along the way, they were invited to play SXSW, The Great Escape, and Eurosonic Festival, opened on tour for Metronomy and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, and recorded the legendary BBC Radio 1 Maida Vale Session.

Gegründet von den Brüdern Leon und Levin in Köln – der Stadt, aus der schon Krautrock hervorging – machten SPARKLING mit ihrem Debütalbum „I Want To See Everything“ schnell international auf sich aufmerksam. Die kantige, schlagfertige Mischung aus zehn mehrsprachigen Post-Punk-Tracks mit Pop-Appeal, co-produziert von Andy Ramsay (Stereolab), brachte ihnen 2019 Airplay auf BBC Radio 1 und BBC 6 Music. Ihre intensiven, schweißgetränkten Liveshows quer durch Europa prägten von Anfang an ihren Sound – und führten dazu, dass sie ganz selbstverständlich Englisch, Deutsch und Französisch in ihren Lyrics verbinden. Nach Remixen von Digitalism und der Zusammenarbeit mit Al Doyle (LCD Soundsystem) und Joe Goddard (Hot Chip) für die EP „This Is My Life / Das Ist Mein Leben / C’est Ma Vie“ (2022) ging die Entwicklung der Band konsequent weiter. Mit ihrem zweiten Album „We Are Here To Make You Feel“, erschienen 2023 auf Moshi Moshi Records (UK), rücken SPARKLING noch näher an den Puls des Dancefloors. Einladungen zu Festivals wie SXSW, The Great Escape und Eurosonic, Tour-Supports für Metronomy und Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds sowie eine Session in den legendären BBC Radio 1 Maida Vale Studios markieren ihren Weg.
